Paul Cézanne Zoom Event

Take part in the Warrenville Public Library District’s Art Excursions. On Tuesday, August 9, the topic will be Paul Cézanne. This is a Zoom Event from 7:00pm - 8:00pm (Central).

As their website notes, “Paul Cézanne moved beyond Impressionism and inspired a generation of new modernists. Art historian Jeff Mishur will discuss Cézanne’s innovative approach to traditional subjects.

Seeing Inside a Mayan Pyramid

If you are intrigued about Mayan Pyramids don’t miss the virtual lecture coming up this Friday, July 29 in the Fermilab Arts and Lectures Series. The lecture “Seeing Inside a Mayan Pyramid”, by Mark Adams, is virtual and begins at 7:30 pm (Central). Registration is required.

Mark Adams is an emeritus professor at the University of Illinois Chicago, and part of the Fermilab Office of Education and Public Engagement.

Art Crimes Class at COD

Have you ever been intrigued by art crimes? Marti, from our WSAS group, says “When I saw this notice of an interesting art class in the COD Lifelong Learning brochure this week, I wanted to mention it to WSAS members. Ruth Nelson is an outstanding lecturer. My husband and I have enjoyed her recent online classes about the great cathedrals of Europe and art of the Vatican.

Art Crimes Class

Description: Art and cultural property crime—which includes theft, fraud, looting and trafficking across state and international lines—is a booming criminal enterprise. In Session 1, look at art theft from United States and European museums and Session II, war-time looting, Nazi-era art theft and restitution, as well as Iraqi looted and stolen artifacts.

Instructor: Ruth Nelson

Dates: Wednesday, April 27 to May 4, 7 to 9 p.m.
